What If The Hulk Was Made in the 90s?

Dive with us into the multiverse as we become a Marvel podcast for a week! In another timeline in the 90s, Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston directed a Hulk film written by Jonathan Hensleigh, starring Billy Crudup as Bruce Banner, with practical effects and prosthetics used for the Hulk!

0:00 Introduction

Big thanks to our fan Axel Martinez, who requested this episode and sent over the script.

00:02:59 Zack, Andrew, and Ben's History With the Hulk

The deleted scene from Avengers: Infinity War of Bruce merging with Hulk that Ben was referring to is here:

00:16:27 What Happens in the Jonathan Hensleigh Hulk Script?

Many of the visuals came from Twitter user @HulkArchives in tweet threads like here and here.

The casting of Gregory Sporleder as Novack and Lynn Red Williams as Deacon comes from this old Variety article.

00:31:12 Break: Chat of the Wild promo, Barkbox promo, "Magneto & Pete-O" Finale with Ben as Magneto, Andrew as Pete-O, Zack as the Green Goblin, and KookieNomz voicing as the last character

This is a promo for another podcast in the Greenlit Podcast Network, No More Whoppers, which you can find here.

Check out our link for Barkbox here.

This sketch completes the "Magneto & Pete-O" Saga that debuted in the Patreon episode "Swanwick The Martian Manhunter." It features Magneto and Pete-O on the search for Magneto's daughter, Wanda, since WandaVision was airing at the time. When we left off, Magneto and Pete-O had gotten to Westview too late (which is why Magneto didn't make a big cameo that everyone was expecting in the finale!) and befriended Agent Jimmy Woo.

Zack's Green Goblin getting shat on by Andrew's Pete-O is a multiversal reference to Zack's Vulko (another Willem Dafoe character) getting pissed at Andrew's Aquaman shitting in the ocean.

Superhero Stuff You Should Know fan KookieNomz contributes her voice as Wanda/Scarlet Witch at the end, referencing the post-credits scene of WandaVision where the character is in a cabin. This is the second sketch that Kookie has contributed to, having previously played Faora in our Man of Steel opening sketch.

00:35:34 Return from Break: The Rest of Jonathan Hensleigh's Hulk Script

01:03:42 Steve Johnson Behind the Scenes Stuff

The videos were compiled from the behind-the-scenes footage that Johnson provided to Bloody Disgusting years ago:

01:06:18 Why Wasn't The Hulk Script Made?(Plus "Hensleigh Is WHO Again?"- Andrew)

We thanks SuperVoid Cinema at the end, who had their own video on the many cancelled Hulk scripts and a section that also covered this specific project:
